The American Numismatic Association will take part in the Boston 2026 World Expo, marking a notable crossover between the numismatic and philatelic communities.
The ANA plans to host a booth at the international exhibition and will also organize a coin collecting merit badge workshop for youth during the weeklong event.
Founded in 1891 and headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colo., the ANA represents about 25,000 collectors and is dedicated to the study and appreciation of coins, paper money and related numismatic material.
While the Boston 2026 World Expo is primarily a stamp show, organizers have deliberately broadened its scope to include related collecting fields. Coins and banknotes are among the categories being incorporated alongside areas such as ephemera and deltiology, reflecting the overlapping interests of many collectors.
“The collaboration’s goal is to share the love of collecting,” said Christian Strayhorn, the ANA’s education director. “Whether stamps, coins or something else, the collecting community shares a passion for the hunt. We saw the Expo as an opportunity to educate philatelists on numismatics while encouraging cross-collecting.”
The ANA’s youth-focused coin collecting merit badge workshop is scheduled for May 23 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Participation is limited to 30 ახალგაზრდers, with registration available through the Boston 2026 youth program. Additional workshops focused on stamp collecting will be held in the days following.
Boston 2026 World Expo runs from May 23 to 30 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. Organizers say the expanded format aims to attract a wider audience by showcasing multiple collecting disciplines under one roof.
Further details, including registration and programming updates, are available through the event’s official website and social media channels.
