Eastern Auctions opens four-session sale on Wednesday

Eastern Auctions will open Session One of its latest public auction on Wednesday, Feb. 25, beginning at 1:30 p.m. AST (12:30 p.m. Eastern).

The sale, conducted over four sessions, opens with a worldwide offering highlighted by the Manfred Walther collection of the Kingdom of Saxony, a specialized holding that has remained largely untouched since the early 1990s.

Session One, comprising Lots 1–318, also features a strong selection of British North America material and Newfoundland pioneer airmail stamps. Among the key highlights is the remarkable Colin Lewis Newfoundland postal history collection, which spans the earliest known letters through the Decimal pre-1900 period. The collection includes elusive postal rates, early recorded dates (ERDs), distinctive frankings and incoming mail.

Eastern Auctions notes that the Newfoundland material is particularly strong in scarce usages and covers illustrating unusual rates and markings, offering advanced collectors significant research and acquisition opportunities.

The auction continues in three additional sessions: Session Two (Lots 319–530), Session Three (Lots 531–794) and Session Four (Lots 795–1083). A complete catalogue is available in PDF format, along with individual session catalogues.

The sale is being conducted online, with bidding accessible through Eastern Auctions’ website.
