New Issues: Olympic spirit alive on latest NZ Post release

Every time New Zealand wins an Olympic medal at the ongoing Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, a special six-stamp sheet will be printed featuring images of the medal winners.

The medallist stamps are part of a series of collectable stamps and coins produced by New Zealand Post for Rio 2016 and they will be printed for gold, silver and bronze medallists.

“We’ll be doing a bit of sprinting ourselves, and these limited edition stamps will be available to order through the New Zealand Post website shortly after the event,” said Simon Allison, head of stamps and coins.

The first stamp of the series features Kiwi shooter Natalie Rooney, who won the silver medal in the womens trap.

“The New Zealand Olympic team is on the medal table and we’ve just issued a stamp to celebrate,” reads the NZ Post website. “Keep an eye on this page for a new stamp each time our New Zealand athletes win a medal in Rio and make sure you collect them all.”
