Volume 47#12

September 27 – October 10, 2022

A British American Bank Note Company trade sample sheet described by auctioneers as ‘possibly unique’ is estimated at $3,000-plus as Lot 226 of R. Maresch & Son’s Oct. 12 sale.

Maresch to offer 740 lots in mid-October unreserved sale

Classic Canadian stamps, proofs and varieties plus a U.S. rarity with a compound perforation error are expected to lead the next Maresch auction. The 740-lot general sale will cross the block on Oct. 12 during a single session, which kicks off at 10 a.m. (ET). With a wide range of material from more than 60 consignors, the offering will be available for viewing from Oct. 3-8 and again on Oct. 10-11 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. at Maresch headquarters in Aurora, Ont. “Our June auction sales continued the consistently successful trend we have seen here at Maresch regardless of the COVID pandemic in the past couple years,” said auctioneer Peter Maresch, who promoted his upcoming unreserved auction at Trajan Publishing’s National Postage Stamp & Coin Show this September. “We are still seeing many strong and record realizations throughout. The market is still collector driven, and whether it’s stamps, proofs or postal history, the bids are still there for specialized collections and any quality and above-average material.” Continue reading →
