Newfoundland perfin exhibit displayed on BNAPS website

Collector Barry Senior’s eight-frame exhibit, “Perforated Initials & Insignia on Stamps of Newfoundland,” is now available for free viewing via the British North America Philatelic Society (BNAPS) website.

The comprehensive 128-page exhibit shows the perforated initials (also known as “perfins”) and insignia used by companies based in Newfoundland plus perfins on Newfoundland stamps from companies outside of Newfoundland. It also examines the use of perforation devices to cancel Newfoundland revenue stamps and the use of specimen perfins by stamp printing companies.

The exhibit was shown at Novapex 2012, a national-level exhibition held that year in Halifax, N.S., where it won a gold medal.
