Fredericton club donates to RPSC

The Fredericton & District Stamp Club, based in the New Brunswick capital, has made an unprecedented donation to the Royal Philatelic Society of Canada (RPSC).

Officials with the Fredericton club sent a $1,000 cheque along with their RPSC membership renewal for 2023. The roughly 25-member club is chapter 148 of the RPSC and served as the host of the 1999 Royal Convention. The Fredericton club was once again slated to host the 2020 Royal Convention, but the COVID-19 pandemic led to the show’s cancellation.

According to RPSC Treasurer John Sharp, he’s unaware of any other “significant” donations from chapters in recent years.

“We do receive regular donations from many members when they pay their dues. These range from a few dollars to round up the amount, to about $100. Over the course of a year, we would receive about $1,000 in donations.”

The RPSC plans to recognize the Fredericton club for its donation.
