William Gross Collection slated for World Stamp Show auction

The extensive classic Hawaii collection belonging to U.S. philatelist and award-winning exhibitor William Gross is slated for auction this May 29 at the highly anticipated World Stamp Show.

The auction, held by Robert A. Siegel Auction Galleries, will come on day two of the eight-day, once-in-a-decade show, which runs May 28-June 4 at Manhattan’s Javits Center. The auction will take place in Rooms 1E01-1E05 on Level 1, two levels below the show floor. Viewing and auction times will be announced soon.

Among the sale’s top highlights is a lot featuring a rare 1851 five-cent Hawaiian Missionary stamp on cover.

Gross, who founded Pacific Investment Management in 1971, is currently a prominent financial manager for Janus Capital Group.
