The Week in Shows (Sept. 24-30)

There are six major shows on Canada’s philatelic calendar this week.

On Sept. 29-30, the B.C. Philatelic Society will host Vanpex 2017 at Jubilee United Church on 7551 Gray Ave. in Burnaby, B.C. The exhibition and bourse will be open to the public on Friday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The theme of the two-day show is the 150th anniversary of Canadian Confederation. Admission and parking are free.

SARNIA, ONT.

On Sept. 30, Lampex 2017 will be held at Great Lakes Secondary School on 275 Wellington St. in Sarnia, Ont. Hosted by the Sarnia Stamp Club, the show and bourse will be open from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Admission and parking are free.

COBOURG, ONT.

Also on Sept. 30, Copex 2017 will be held at the Salvation Army Citadel on 59 Ballantine St. in Cobourg, Ont. The show will include eight dealers with a wide selection of stamps and supplies as well as displays by members of the Cobourg Stamp Club; a club consignment table sale; and a silent auction. Door prizes will also be offered. Free parking is available on-site.

MEDICINE HAT, ALTA.

On Sept. 30, the Medicine Hat Coin and Stamp Show will be held at the Medicine Hat Exhibition on 2055 21 Ave. S.E. in Medicine Hat, Alta. With more than 40 tables of stamps and coins, the show will be open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission is only $2 (children are free with a parent).

WINNIPEG, MAN.

Rounding out the week in shows is the Fall Coin, Stamp and Collectables Show that will be hosted by the Manitoba Coin Club on Sept. 30-Oct. 1. Held at the Sunova Centre on 48 Holland Rd. in Winnipeg, Man., the show will be open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sept. 30 and from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Oct. 1. Admission is $5 a day, and free parking is available on-site.
