The Vincent Graves Greene Philatelic Research Foundation (VGG) has reworked its management team following the retirement of long-time official Charles Verge.
The VGG’s longest-serving director, Verge sat as the foundation’s vice-chair, vice-president, historian, archivist and secretary before his resignation in March (“Verge retires from VGG, Royal,” CSN Vol. 46 #25, March 29, 2022). In past years, he also managed the VGG’s Harry Sutherland Philatelic Library (HSPL) and sat on the foundation’s expert committee.
At the VGG’s annual general meeting on Sept. 15, officials announced Garfield Portch will continue as the board chair and president, roles he took on in 2019.
Secretary Ingo Nessel, who will continue in that role, was named as the new vice-president while John Sharp joined the board as the treasurer.
New director Chris Dennis will “perform consultative duties as well as provide a non-philatelist’s perspective,” according to a statement from the VGG. Kimmo Salonen retired from the board and was made a director emeritus.
Officials called Emily McKibbon, the new manager of the HSPL, “an integral part in realizing our strategic plan.”
“These changes complete the transformation of the Greene Foundation’s team. Now we are ready to move forward with our strategic plan supported by an abundance of talent with a younger outlook.”
