The Ukrainian Philatelic & Numismatic Society (UPNS), an international group of collectors specializing in Ukrainian material, held its annual convention at CAPEX 22.
One of about two dozen societies that attended the four-day international show this June in Toronto, the UPNS has three chapters – one in the Ontario capital plus others based in Michigan and Australia.
At CAPEX, its members from Canada and abroad staffed a table, where they offered the society’s Ukrainian Philatelist journal, Trident Visnyk newsletter plus a new Picture Postage stamp and two related covers.
The Toronto-based chapter, known as the Ukrainian Collectibles Society, issued the Picture Postage stamp proclaiming Canada’s support for Ukraine during the “unprovoked and illegal full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation,” according to the UPNS website, upns.org, where the stamp and covers are also sold.
The chapter will donate $5 from each sale to the Friends of Ukraine Defence Forces Fund, established by the League of Ukrainian Canadians and the League of Ukrainian Canadian Women in 2014, when Russia first invaded Ukraine’s Crimean peninsula. For more details about the fund, visit fudffund.ca.
During CAPEX, the UPNS also hosted its annual general meeting on June 11 followed by a presentation on Ukrainian philately and a special dinner later that night.
