There are six major stamp shows taking place in four Canadian provinces and one nearby U.S. states this week.
First up is Kapex 2019, the 63rd annual show and exhibition of the Kawartha Stamp Club, which is being held April 13 at the Evinrude Centre on 911 Monaghan Rd., in Peterborough, Ont.
The only regional stamp show in the Peterborough area, the event will be open from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and feature upwards of 12 dealers from across the province. There will also be raffles, draw prizes, table auctions, exhibits and a special-edition show cover. Every child attendee will also receive a free gift courtesy of the club. Admission and parking are free.
WATERLOO
Also on April 13 is K-W Stampfest 2019, which will be held at Trillium Lutheran Church on 22 Willow St., in Waterloo, Ont.
The annual stamp show and bourse of the Kitchener-Waterloo Philatelic Society, it will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and admission is free.
NOVA SCOTIA
The Nova Scotia Stamp Club Spring Stamp Fair will also be held on April 13 at the East Dartmouth Community Centre on 50 Caledonia Rd., in Dartmouth, N.S.
Hosted by the Nova Scotia Stamp Club, the fair will be open from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., with free admission and parking plus a club auction. There will be upwards of 10 dealers on the bourse.
ALBERTA
On April 13-14, the Calgary Spring Bourse will be held at the Kerby Centre on 1133-7 Ave. S.W., in Calgary, Alta.
Hosted by the Calgary Philatelic Society, the bourse will be open on Saturday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and on Sunday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. In addition to dealer and club tables, the show will feature youth tables plus an auction. Admission and parking are free.
QUÉBEC
Also on April 13-14, Postalia Québec Printemps 2019 will be held at Complexe Sportif de Wendake on 100 rue Grand Chef Thonnakona in Wendake, Qué.
The show will be open both days from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and feature more than 30 dealers of coins, stamps, postcards and postal history.
MICHIGAN STATE
Rounding out the week in shows is the 50th Plymouth Show, which will be held on April 13-14 at the Hellenic Cultural Center on 36375 Joy Rd., in Westland, Mich., which is only about 40 kilometres east of the Canada-U.S. border in Windsor, Ont.
This American Philatelic Society “World Series of Philately” exhibition is presented by the U.S.-based West Suburban Stamp Club. Nearly 40 dealers from Canada plus 11 U.S. states will be selling stamps, postcards and other related items. There will also be more than 100 frames of competitive exhibits plus free seminars for collectors of all ages.
Admission and parking are free.
