Based in Surrey, B.C., the Cloverdale Seniors’ Stamp Club is looking for new members to join its ranks.
Led by local collector John Jackman, the club is relatively small with about 10 people attending its regular meetings. While the club’s members trade stamps with one another, they also help new recruits learn more about philately, including important aspects like storing or mounting a collection and how to use hobby supplies.
“It’s very relaxing and I really enjoy it,” Jackman, who began collecting when he was in elementary school, told the Surrey Leader-Now this January. “Everybody was collecting – either cards you got in cigarette packs, or stamps, or something – and I just chose stamps.”
The Cloverdale Seniors’ Stamp Club meets every second and fourth Monday of the month, starting at 1 p.m., at the Cloverdale Recreation Centre on 6188-176 St., in Surrey.
