Renowned Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan expressed her heartfelt gratitude for being honoured with a new Canada Post stamp, describing it as a true “pinch-me moment.”
During the unveiling ceremony on Sept. 18 at the Sarah McLachlan School of Music in Vancouver, B.C., she shared her pride, saying, “I am a deeply proud Canadian, and I’m so honoured to be featured on a national stamp and to be in such amazing company with the incredible women and so many other remarkable Canadians. This is honestly still one of those pinch-me moments — it’s amazingly cool, and I wish my dad was here to see this.”
Reflecting on the reach of the stamp, she added, “I love to think that someone could put my face, my stamp on a letter, and it could end up anywhere in the world and brighten someone’s day.”
Designed by Jocelyne Saulnier of Joce Creative, the stamp features a striking photo of McLachlan with a stylized version of her signature in the foreground. The background includes a detail from her hand silk-screened art print, Blue Sunrays. The official cancellation site is Vancouver, B.C., where McLachlan has called home for many years.
McLachlan’s career, marked by her soulful vocals and poignant songwriting, has earned her a place among Canada’s most distinguished musicians. With over 40 million albums sold worldwide, some of her most iconic songs — Building a Mystery, Angel, and Sweet Surrender — have received global recognition. Her third studio album, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy, is currently celebrating its 30th anniversary with a North American tour.
