Armenia is slated to host an international philatelic exhibition this November in honour of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Ivan Aivazovsky, a Russian Romantic painter who’s considered among the greatest masters of marine art.
According to Hovik Musayelyan, president of the Union of Philatelists of Armenia, there is already interest from philatelists in Russia as well as the U.S.
“As you know, the 200th birthday anniversary of Aivazovsky is being celebrated in our country,” said Musayelyan. “We don’t want to miss this event. Now a committee has been formed to regulate issues related to the international exhibition.”
Stamps and exhibits dedicated to the iconic Russian painter as well as the art form in general will be displayed during the event.
2018 EXHIBITION
Another international exhibition is also slated to be held in Armenia next year. This show will celebrate the 2800th anniversary of Yerevan, which is the capital and largest city of Armenia. It’s also one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited cities. The theme of next year’s show will be “Smart City.”
