Big ticket sales make for a fun year

Naysayers like to whine about how the stamp hobby is dying off, that there are no new collectors, and that there aren’t enough kids involved. I suggest that they should take some time and read some old philatelic periodicals. The early issues of CSN are filled with similar comments, dating back more than 30 years. World’s rarest stamp to go on the block

The world’s rarest stamp is expected to fetch a record price when Sotheby’s puts the famous British Guiana one-cent magenta on the auction block June 17. The coin, which Sotheby’s estimates at $10 to $20 US million, will lead off the sale of the world famous collection of John E. New definitive stamps hit the streets

The Canadian pride series of flag stamps has taken a new turn with five stamps featuring UNESCO world heritage sites in Canada. There are 17 such sites in Canada, and they will all be honoured over the course of the program, which will run into 2016.
