New Issue: Philippine stamp celebrates ‘Year of the Dog’

The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) recently unveiled its 2018 Year of the Dog special stamps in celebration of the Chinese Lunar Calendar.

Designed by Rodine C. Teodoro, the Year of the Dog stamps are available in two denominations—12 and 45 Philippine pesos, respectively—as well as two colours, red and blue. A total of 101,000 of each of the stamps was printed.

The stamps depict the beloved Golden Retriever, one of the most popular dog breeds that best exemplifies the traits of the Chinese zodiac sign.

A symbol of loyalty and honesty, the dog is said to possess some of the best traits of human nature. People born under this sign are honest, friendly, loyal, intelligent, venerable and have a strong sense of responsibility. The dog is considered man’s best friend.
