World-famous Lebanese fashion designer Elie Saab was commemorated on a stamp issued by his home country’s postal service, LibanPost, this March.
The stamp was unveiled at Beit Beirut, a museum and urban cultural centre celebrating the history of Beirut, the walls of which were donned with massive photographs of Saab-designed dresses worn by prominent international figures. Among these figures was Canadian singer and pop music icon Celine Dion, who performed at the 83rd annual Academy Awards ceremony—held Feb. 27, 2011, in Los Angeles, Calif.—wearing a “blush strapless gown with subtle draping” from the Elie Saab Spring-Summer 2011 Haute Couture collection.
