Napex, the largest stamp show on the U.S. east coast, will come to McLean, Va., on June 2-4.
Sponsored by the Washington, D.C.-based National Philatelic Exhibitions, Napex will feature 226 frames of national-level exhibits as part of the American Philatelic Society World Series of Philately show. The multi-frame GranP Award winner will be eligible for the Champion of Champions competition at the Great American Stamp Show on Aug. 10-13 in Ohio while the single-frame Grand Award winner will be eligible for the single-frame Champion of Champions competition at Chicagopex in Chicago on Nov. 17-19.
When Napex opens on June 2, organizers will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the late Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation.
“In recognition, we note the anniversary in our June 2 postmark and will have two different cacheted covers on June 2,” said show chair John Schorn. Schorn will also lead a presentation, “Queen Elizabeth II on Postage Stamps,” exploring the influential figure who has appeared on more postage stamps than anyone else.
Judges will also hand out a special memorial award recognizing the best exhibit of material depicting, honouring or relating to Queen Elizabeth II.
