In-person Chicagopex to return as border re-opens

For the first time since 2019, Chicagopex will kick off this November in Itasca, Ill., just two weeks after the U.S. border re-opens to fully vaccinated Canadians.

The Nov. 19-21 show will be held at Itasca’s Westin Chicago Northwest on 400 Park Blvd., about 30 kilometres northwest of Chicago and 500 kilometres west of the Canada-U.S. border in Windsor, Ont.

Like at past Chicagopex outings, Canadian philately will have a presence throughout the three-day show. On Nov. 19, the British North America Philatelic Society will host a show and tell, and two days later, CAPEX 22 chair David McLaughlin will host an information session promoting Canada’s next international show, CAPEX 22, slated for June 9-12 in Toronto.

At Chicagopex, admission and parking are free, and the show will mark the 135th anniversary of the host Chicago Philatelic Society. The American Association of Philatelic Exhibitors, one of this year’s convening societies, will host its single-frame team competition while Chicagopex will host its 55th annual literature competition with both print and digital entries. Overall, nearly 300 frames of competitive exhibits will be displayed at the show, which also features a 70-booth dealer bourse, a youth program, a club book sale, several social events and dozens of club meetings and seminars.
