With 2,800 frames, the IBRA 2021 world general stamp exhibition is coming to Essen, Germany, next May.
Ingo Nessel, past president of the Philatelic Specialists Society of Canada, was recently appointed as the exhibition’s Canadian commissioner. The exhibition will feature all Fédération Internationale de Philatélie (FIP) exhibit classes, and the deadline to apply is Oct. 1.
All application forms and individual regulations – also known as the IREX – are available online at IBRA2021.de.
IBRA 2021 will mark the 75th anniversary of the Bund Deutscher Philatelisten, a German philatelic organization with about 35,000 members, and the 150th anniversary of the Deutsche Reichspost, the country’s first uniform postal administration.
Following previous shows in 1973 and 1999, IBRA 2021 will be the third FIP world exhibition in Germany.
“The IBRA 2021 will be a special festival where German philately can present itself. But there are also world rarities to admire, and numerous dealers and auction houses, as well as postal administrations, are represented,” reads a joint statement issued by organizers, including Alfred Schmidt, Jan Billion and Walter Bernatek.
“We are sure that all collectors will experience special days that will bring us together with friends from all over the world. We’ll be talking about this for a long time.”
