CSDA urges collectors to buy Canadian

With ongoing uncertainty surrounding tariffs, international borders and cross-border shopping, now is an ideal time for collectors to support Canadian businesses by purchasing from reputable, local stamp dealers, according to the Canadian Stamp Dealers’ Association (CSDA).

“The CSDA represents more than 70 trusted dealers across the country, all ready to meet the needs of collectors,” the association states. “Whether you’re looking for rare classics, modern issues, or specialized philatelic material, Canadian dealers have the expertise and inventory to help.”

Many CSDA members operate online stores, offering collectors the convenience of shopping from home while avoiding the challenges of cross-border shipping and unpredictable costs. Collectors can browse dealer stores on the CSDA auction site or view a complete list of CSDA dealer members, many of whom have their own e-commerce platforms.

“When you buy from a CSDA dealer, you’re not only supporting Canadian businesses – you’re also buying with confidence,” the CSDA notes. “All members adhere to a strict Code of Ethics, ensuring professionalism, transparency, and trust in every transaction.”

For those searching for specific items, the CSDA also operates an online classified ad site, where collectors can find a variety of stamps, covers, and other philatelic material.

“By choosing to buy Canadian, collectors ensure quality, reliability, and direct support for Canadian dealers who are passionate about the hobby,” the CSDA adds. “Whether you’re a seasoned collector or just starting out, Canadian dealers should be your first choice.”

I fully agree with buying Canadian. We need to support our own. The only caveat that I have is that a number of on-line dealers charge in American dollars and we have to deal with American exchange. I feel uncomfortable with this scenario and wish they would cut the apron strings and support their Canadian clients.
