The website for CAPEX 22, the first World One-Frame Stamp Championship, is now live at capex22.org.
The website includes details about the show – Canada’s fifth international show since 1951 – to be held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC) on June 9-12, 2022. There’s also visitor, bourse and exhibition information, including application forms, now available on the site. The entry process, including uploading title and synopsis pages, is done entirely on the site, which is available in both English and French.
“It is a big deal,” David McLaughlin, chair of the Royal Philatelic Society of Canada (RPSC) international liaison committee, told CSN last May (“CAPEX 22 ‘a big deal’ for Canadian philately,” Vol. 45 #3).
With 400 single frames available – in addition to a literature class with both print and digital media – CAPEX 22 will be the largest showing of one-frame exhibits at a single exhibition. In fact, the 400 single frames at CAPEX 22 will exceed the number of single-frame exhibits that have competed at all shows sponsored by the Swiss-based Fédération Internationale de Philatélie (FIP) since 2016.
For single-frame exhibitors, the qualification period extends back to the beginning of 2015.
“Normally, the qualification period is five years prior to the exhibition year; however, with the absence of national shows in 2020 and the cancellation of national shows in the first half of 2021 at least, CAPEX 22 will accept applications for exhibits qualified since Jan. 1, 2015,” McLaughlin told CSN in December.
Literature exhibitors, meanwhile, can submit their print or digital philatelic books and research papers published since Jan. 1, 2017, as well as their print or digital journals and periodicals since Jan. 1, 2020.
FULL BOURSE, SEMINARS & MORE
CAPEX 22 will also boast a full bourse with about 65 booths staffed by dealers from Canada and abroad.
There will also be seminars, society presentations, receptions and club tables – plus an evening auction by a major Canadian auction house.
CAPEX 22 will be the third international philatelic exhibition held at the MTCC, located in the heart of Toronto’s downtown entertainment district, which also played host to Capex in 1996 and 1987.
The Constitution Hall in the 100 level of the MTCC’s North Building, at 255 Front St. W., will house the exhibition and bourse.
Hosted by the RPSC, CAPEX 22 will be held under the patronage of Federación Interamericana de Filatelia (FIAF) and the recognition of the FIP. All members of the RPSC and FIAF or FIP federations are invited to participate.
