Over five consecutive days starting next Monday, Canada Post will unveil a new issue paying tribute to five groups of emergency responders.
One stamp will be unveiled each day from Sept. 10-14 at a separate event across the country to honour a different kind of emergency responder.
The stamps express the respect and gratitude of Canadians to emergency responders, both professional and volunteer. With their skills, with their service and by their sacrifices, they find and rescue the lost; treat and save the seriously ill and injured; and protect us, our homes, businesses, and communities.
UNVEILING SCHEDULE
- Paramedics: Sept. 10 in Fredericton, N.B.
- Canadian Armed Forces: Sept. 11 in Valcartier, Qué.
- Search and Rescue: Sept. 12 in Banff, Alta.
- Firefighters: Sept. 13 in Halifax, N.S.
- Police: Sept. 14 in Ottawa, Ont.
All events will begin at 10:30 a.m. local time.
STAMP DESIGN
Each stamp’s original art will depict front-line emergency responders in action and portray or evoke the perils that emergency responders answer with professionalism. Rather than depict a single organization or a recognizable community, each stamp’s artwork represents all the emergency responders in that role across Canada.
More details about each unveiling will be available soon.
