Brigham, Lundeen sales go live Friday, Saturday

Two Eastern Auctions sales featuring Canadian rarities will go live this week, starting on Aug. 18 with part two of the legendary Grand Prix collection of Province of Canada Pence and Cents issues formed by the late Ron Brigham.

On Aug. 19, part two of the Glen Lundeen Collection of Canada’s Admiral issue will go live.

“Featuring many of the greatest rarities with proofs, stamps including famous multiples, and important postal history — the most anticipated and celebrated collection of Canada Pence and Cents to be offered since the famous Dale-Lichtenstein collection more than 50 years ago,” states Eastern Auctions.

The sale goes live at 1:30 p.m. (AT). For full details, click here.

“Many of these have not surfaced at auction since the 1980s,” says Yohann Tanguay, Eastern’s chief describer. “The second instalment features 157 lots, from proofs, stamps and postal history from the three-pence beaver to the last issued decimal, the two-cent stamp.”

In this sale, Tanguay says, “the spotlight will be shining on the six-pence and 10-pence Prince Albert, namely Scott/Unitrade (catalogue) numbers two, five, 10, 13, 16 and 17 including their varieties, printings, proofs, stamps, and postal history.”

Tanguay says of the 157 lots, “we’ve counted over 30 lots valued into the five figures, four of which reaching the mark of $100,000 or more.”

Tanguag adds that the Brigham and Lundeen sales greatly appeal to collectors of all levels and budgets.
