Bill Barrell, the renowned owner of Bill Barrell Ltd., a leading philatelic company based in the United Kingdom, is making headlines with his upcoming appearances at several major international stamp shows.
Currently en route to the “Great American Stamp Show” in Hartford, CT. Barrell is the only specialist dealer in Great Britain stamps and postal history making the journey to this prestigious event. The show, known as the largest annual stamp show in the United States, promises four days of philatelic excitement, drawing collectors and dealers from around the globe.
“As usual, I am the only specialist dealer in GB stamps and postal history that makes the journey, although several other dealers from the UK will be here as well,” Barrell remarked.
Following the Great American Stamp Show, Barrell has a packed schedule with a booth booked at the FEPA show in Copenhagen, “HAFNIA,” later in October, swiftly followed by his participation in “Stampex International” in London.
However, the centerpiece of Barrell’s current efforts is the promotion of a remarkable collection of the world’s first postage stamp, the Penny Black. This collection, meticulously assembled over 40 years by a discerning collector, features an array of constant varieties, including matched pairs, trios, quartets, quintets, septets, and more. It’s a rare opportunity for collectors to enhance their collections with these highly sought-after items.
“We have just released List 175, covering plates 1a to 5, and it’s available now to anyone who requests a copy, free of charge, sent anywhere in the world,” Barrell announced. “Later this year, we’ll release List 177, offering plates 5 through eleven, including 15 examples from the rare plate eleven, with a very fine horizontal pair.”
In addition to the lists, a professionally made video discussing this extraordinary collection and the 1d black has been produced, adding further value to this unique offering.
Barrell also expressed his anticipation for the upcoming Stampex International, where he looks forward to meeting fellow collectors and enthusiasts. Philatelists and collectors are encouraged to request their copies of List 175 and stay tuned for the release of List 177, as these collections represent a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own pieces of postal history.
