Two $1,000 scholarships to the 40th Annual Summer Seminar on Philately are being offered by the American Philatelic Society (APS) to young stamp collectors in Canada and the U.S.
Each scholarship, which is open to people aged 16-24, will help defray the cost of attending this year’s Summer Seminar, which will be held June 24-27 at the American Philatelic Center in Bellefonte, Pa.
“Summer Seminar is a once-a-year opportunity to expand your philatelic knowledge and meet others who share your passion and interests,” reads the APS website. “All courses are led by philatelic experts who are accomplished writers, exhibitors, experts, dealers, and specialized collectors.”
The Norris “Bob” Dyer Scholarship is sponsored by the British North American Philatelic Society while the Wayne Youngblood Scholarship will be awarded to young collectors between the ages of 16 and 24 who are residents of Canada or the U.S. Applicants must be 16 years of age – but not older than 24 – as of June 1. Young collectors who are not 18 years of age prior to June 1 must be accompanied by a parent or chaperone.
Immediate family members of APS or American Philatelic Research Library board members or staff and current participants of the Young Philatelic Leaders Fellowship are ineligible.
