APS, ATA to join forces at 2018 StampShow in Columbus, Ohio

The American Philatelic Society (APS) and the American Topical Association (ATA) will co-host the 2018 StampShow slated for Aug. 9-12 in Columbus, Ohio.

According to the APS blog, the announcement was made on June 23 at the ATA’s National Topical Stamp Show in Milwaukee, Wisc.

“The 2018 show in Columbus just got even more exciting,” said Scott English, APS executive director, on June 23, adding it “should be a sign of things to come for the hobby.”

“The partnership between the APS and the ATA gets stronger every day and together we’re going to have a ‘can’t miss’ stamp show.”

FIRST TIME TOGETHER

The 2018 StampShow will mark the first time the 131-year-old APS and 67-year-old ATA have combined their large annual national shows. Next year will be the APS’ 132nd show and convention and the ATA’s 68th annual National Topical Stamp Show. The ATA has held its national show during a U.S.-based international show four times, including last summer’s World Stamp Show in New York City.

The APS will be responsible for all management and logistics for the 2018 StampShow. A number of exhibit frames will be earmarked for thematic exhibits.

“This highly anticipated event is a real sign that philatelic organizations have begun a new era of cooperation for great benefit to our hobby,” said ATA President Dale Smith on June 23. “This is a wonderful project to combine resources to create one of the best shows to attract a great number of collectors.”
