Anticipation is running high for BNAPEX 2024, the premier event of the British North America Philatelic Society (BNAPS), which kicks off tomorrow, Aug. 23, in Kingston, Ont.
This year’s convention promises to be an unforgettable gathering for philatelists, offering a vibrant mix of exhibits, social events, and opportunities to connect with top dealers from across Canada.
“Everything is on track,” BNAPS President David McLaughlin said in a recent interview with Canadian Stamp News. “The venue has been booked for a year, caterers are engaged, entries have closed, and all bourse tables are booked. Our popular arrangement for St. Lawrence College residence rooms is fully booked.”
The event has drawn significant interest, with 34 exhibits entered, making it one of the largest BNAPEX exhibitions in Ontario in recent years. “We’ve seen a strong trend towards single-frame exhibits, with 15 competing for the Herbert L. McNaught Award,” McLaughlin added.
The bourse, a highlight of BNAPEX, is sold out, with 18 dealers from across Canada, making it a prime opportunity for collectors to find British North America (BNA) items.
McLaughlin also highlighted a special exhibit titled “The Philatelic History of Kingston from 1673 to the Present Day,” curated by Chris Anstead and Chris Hargreaves of the BNAPS St. Lawrence Seaway Regional Group.
Among the social events is the BNAPEX 2024 dinner cruise on Friday night aboard the 1000 Island Queen. The event will conclude with a grand banquet on Sunday evening, where awards will be presented, including the society’s prestigious Order of the Beaver. Hosted by the BNAPS St. Lawrence Seaway Regional Group, this year’s BNAPEX is a must-attend for philatelists and stamp enthusiasts.
