Kingston, Ont.’s Chris Hargreaves has revived the Air Mail Study Group, one of nearly 25 study groups affiliated with the British North America Philatelic Society (BNAPS).
The airmail group has already held three virtual meetings, the latest of which was on May 2, and they will be posted as videos on the group’s BNAPS webpage. The group was originally active from 1992 until at least 2006, when its final newsletter – the Pilot’s Log – was issued. In those 14 years, the group published 40 newsletters, all of which are available on its webpage.
According to its first newsletter, published in December 1992, the study group was formed at that year’s BNAPEX in St. Charles, Ill., with the goal of covering “all types of Canadian airmail up to the introduction of all-up first-class mail.”
BNAPS STUDY GROUPS
This March, Darin Cherniwchan, of Abbotsford, B.C., launched the Digital Philately Study Group, and in April, Rick Friesen, of Kirkland, Qué., revived the Map Stamp Study Group.
With the recently revived Air Mail Study Group, BNAPS now boasts 24 active study groups. Another 14 BNAPS study groups from past years remain dormant.
