As the British Columbia Philatelic Society celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2019, its members have been busy preparing for Vanpex’s return to national-level status for this year’s three-day show on Sept. 27-29.
After a 12-year hiatus as a regional show, Vanpex 2019 will be held at the Nikkei Cultural Centre in Burnaby, B.C.
Organizers are expecting attendees “from far and wide, many of whom will not have visited a philatelic event in the Vancouver area for over a decade,” said bourse chair Derren Carman, who added there will be upwards of 10 dealers on the bourse.
Canada Post is slated to produce a special show postmark, which will be offered along with limited-edition souvenir covers and customized Picture Postage stamps marking the society’s centennial.
Judges of the national-level exhibition include chief Sam Chiu, of Toronto, who’s joined on the jury by David Piercey, of Edmonton, Alta., as well as Arlene Sullivan and Ed Kroft, both of Vancouver.
