In this issue of CSN (Vol. 45 #17), New Brunswick dealer and auctioneer Gary Lyon is running his 1,000th consecutive back-page ad, “Old Time Bargains,” which has been continuously printed for nearly four decades.
Lyon, the owner of Gary Lyon (Philatelist) Ltd. and its sister company Eastern Auctions, also recently launched a revamped website – garylyon.com – using a new e-commerce platform powered by Shopify.
“This will greatly improve overall efficiency and guarantee secure transactions,” according to a joint statement issued by Lyon and Yohann Tanguay, Eastern Auctions’ public auction manager and lot describer.
Eastern Auctions’ latest sale was held on Oct. 2-3. Its next sale is tentatively scheduled for this winter.
Each year, Lyon and his 22-person staff distribute to collectors more than 40 printed publications, including public and mail auction catalogues, rare stamp lists, regular price lists, “selected rarities” catalogues and other promotional leaflets.

Lyon also noted he is “always seeking to buy,” adding dealer stocks, specialized collections and individual rarities “are all of interest, and immediate payment is guaranteed.”
